Oro-Medonte Votes 2026

2026 Election

The next Municipal and School Board Election will take place in October, 2026.  The Clerk is responsible for preparing and conducting the Municipal Election, held every four years, in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act.

The 2026 election will be conducted through internet and telephone voting. Eligible electors will be provided a “voting period” of thirteen (13) days to vote.  The “Voting Period” will start on Wednesday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. and run until October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m..  This means eligible electors in the Township can cast their ballot anytime during the voting period, from any available internet location, including the comfort of their own home.

Voter Help Centres: Eligible voters who have not received a Voter Information Letter and/or require assistance can attend one of the Voter Help Center(s) during the times and dates specified below:

  1. Township Administration Centre, 148 Line 7 S. from Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. during regular business hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and  Thursday, October 15 until 8:00 p.m. and  Saturday October 24, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and Monday, October 26, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
  2. Simcoe Woods Community Centre, 737 Horseshoe Valley Road West from Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. during regular business hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and,  Saturday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, October 26, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

and vote using a touch-tone telephone or the internet access provided.  Any telephone provided at the Voter Help Centre shall delete any display options on the telephone.

  • Revisions to Voter Information: Up to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026
  • Nomination Period: Friday, May 1, 2026 (8:30 a.m.) to Friday, August 21, 2026 (2:00 p.m.)
  • Third Party Registration: Friday, May 1, 2026 (8:30 a.m.) to October 23, 2026 (4:30 p.m.)
  • Campaign Period: Friday, May 1, 2026 to Thursday, December 31, 2026
  • Final Day for Voters to Update School Support Information with MPAC: Monday, June 1, 2026
  • Nomination Day: Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
  • Deadline for Withdrawal of Nominations: Friday, August 21, 2026 (2:00 p.m.)
  • Certification Day: Monday, August 24, 2026 by 4:00 p.m.
  • Close of Third-Party Advertiser Registration Period: Friday, October 23, 2026
  • Voter’s List Available to Candidates: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
  • Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026 (ends at 8:00 p.m.)
  • Declaration of Results: Tuesday, October 27, 2026
  • New Term of Office Commences: Sunday, November 15, 2026
  • Filing Date for Candidates and Registered Third Party Advertisers to file initial financial statements and auditors report: Tuesday, March 30, 2027 (2:00 p.m.)

Register to Vote

Eligible electors must be:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years old
  • a resident, owner, or tenant of land in the Township of Oro-Medonte or the spouse of such tenant or owner
  • not prohibited from voting under any law

Regardless of the number of priorities you own or rent in the Township, eligible electors are only entitled to vote once during the municipal and school board election.

In accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 Nominations may be filed,

  1. on any day on or after May 1 in the year of the regular election that is before nomination day, at a time when the clerk’s office is open; or
  2. on nomination day, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

By-law 2025-92 and By-law 2025-093

Please note that under By-laws 2025-092 ward boundaries and 2025-093 Council Composition (electoral positions) have changed within the Township of Oro-Medonte.

Elected positions for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Trustee election are as follows:

  • One Mayor – elected at large
  • One Deputy Mayor – elected at large
  • Five (5) ward Councillors (one per ward)
  • School Board Trustee(s)

The next four-year term is from November 15, 2026 to November 14, 2030.
